S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Settlement & Community Services

S.U.C.C.E.S.S. is one of the largest non-profit social service organizations in British Columbia. Established to assist newcomers, immigrants, and refugees, S.U.C.C.E.S.S. provides comprehensive settlement and community services to help individuals navigate the challenges of moving to Canada, build a new life, and integrate smoothly into the local community.

What They Do:

  • Settlement & Integration Services: Offers one-on-one settlement counseling and group workshops (available in multiple languages) to help newcomers understand Canadian systems, including healthcare, banking, housing, and legal rights.
  • Employment Support: Provides customized job search programs, resume writing assistance, interview coaching, and networking opportunities to help foreign-trained professionals and individuals find meaningful employment.
  • Language & Training (LINC): Operates Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada (LINC) programs to help eligible immigrants improve their English speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills for daily life and work.
  • Family & Senior Care: Runs dedicated support groups and community connection activities tailored for seniors, youth, and women, reducing isolation for independent solo dwellers and helping them build local friendships.
  • Community Resources & Referral: Assists individuals in applying for essential government benefits and documents, such as Permanent Resident (PR) card renewals, citizenship applications, BC Services Cards, and social housing.

Who Is This For?

Newcomers, immigrants, refugees, and temporary residents (including work permit holders) living in BC. It is an invaluable resource for individuals living alone who may feel overwhelmed by the cultural transition or need local community connections to establish their support network.

Cost:

  • Completely free. Most core settlement, employment, and language training programs are fully funded by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) and the Province of BC.

How to Connect:

  • Book an Appointment: Visit their website to find their service locations across Metro Vancouver (including Vancouver, Richmond, Burnaby, Coquitlam, and Surrey) and contact your nearest office to speak with a settlement practitioner.
  • Multi-lingual Help Lines: They also operate specific emotional and cultural support help lines in Mandarin and Cantonese for those who prefer to communicate in their native language.
